ROL Posterior Sacral Torsion
Overview
A direct action, muscle energy procedure for treating a Right-On-Left Backward (posterior) Sacral Torsion.
Diagnosis
Step 1 Patient lies in the left lateral recumbent position with the operator standing in front while monitoring the lumbosacral junction with the left hand. The pelvis pulled is pulled towards the operator so that L5 begins to move into extension with the sacrum moving into anterior nutation.
Step 2 The operator introduces extension of the bottom leg until the sacral base starts to move forward.
Step 3 The operator introduces right rotation of L5 which starts the sacrum to rotate to the left.
Step 4 The operator then resists the pateint's efforts to lift the right knee to the ceiling while monitoring the right base of the sacrum.
Step 5 Have the patient perform three to five muscle contraction of lifting the feet to the ceiling for 3- 5-seconds with the operator engaging the new barries between each effort by further extending the bottom leg and dropping the right leg more toward the floor.
Note Go back and evaluate our landmarks to see if we've restored function to the sacroiliac joints.
