LOL Anterior Sacral Torsion

Overview A direct action, muscle energy procedure for treating a Left-On-Left Forward (anterior) Sacral Torsion.

Diagnosis

  • Position: Lateral Recumbent
  • Motion restriction: Right rotation, left-side bending and posterior nutation of right sacral base.

Step 1 The patient is positioned in the right lateral recumbent position with the operator standing in front and monitoring the lumbosacral junction.

Step 2 The operator controls the patient's knees, monitors the lumbosacral junction with the left hand and introduces trunk rotation to the left until L-5 begins to rotate.

Step 3 The operator's right hand now monitorsthe lumbosacral junction and right sacral base while the left hand introduces left-side bending.

Step 4 The operator flexes the lower extremities until the right sacral base begins to move posteriorly. Th epatient then is asked to lift both feet toward the ceiling against resistance provided by the operator's left hand.

Step 5 Have the patient perform three to five muscle contraction of lifting the feet to the ceiling for 3- 5-seconds against resistance offered by the operator with engagement of the flexion and sidebending barrier between each effort.

Note Go back and reevaluate our landmarks again to see if we have restored function and symmetry to the sacroiliac joints.
