Instructional Objectives -- Functional & Clinical Significance of the Cervical Spine
After completing these materials you will:
- Know how to diagnose and treat restriction of normal motion mechanics of the cervical spine.
- Know how to diagnose and treat soft tissue abnormalities in the cervical musculature that may result from viscero-somatic reflex activity.
- Understand and be able to describe characteristic motion mechanics of the cervical spine.
- Understand how unique morphology contributes to characteristic motion mechanics at various levels of the cervical spine.
- Understand how soft tissues contribute to characteristic motion mechanics at various levels of the cervical spine.
- Know how to perform a basic cervical screening examination.
- Know how to perform a detailed scan of the upper and lower cervical spine.
- Know how to treat the upper and lower cervical spine using direct action techniques such as muscle energy and high-velocity, low-amplitude.
